 Amelie G
Well done to Amelie G, who was Swimmer of the Month in December.  Amelie has shown grit and determination over the last few months, she’s been chasing down Cheshire County times and dedicated her focus to getting them on Sunday. The Coaches highly commended her goal setting and then her racing spirit - she ended up with 4 Cheshire times and 5 medals at the Trafford gala.  Well done Amelie, keep up the good work!

The Coaches would also like to say a big well done to the other nominations:
Rory M for making big improvements to his technique and his determination which resulted in his much wanted Cheshire County time in 100 Fly
Imogen W for her hard work in training, facing her fears of racing and diving and making massive improvements
Noah M for showing great technique, commitment and being a role model in training
Bo S for her brilliant attitude and no nonsense approach to getting the training ticked off! She’s had some great performances at Arena and made some big improvements.
Max O for his amazing goal keeping in handball during land training (thanks to Dan for that nomination!)

Well done everyone!

arena 2021 Arena League - December 2021

Dan and I would like to say a huge well done to our 2021 Arena Team. After a challenging few years we were so proud of how the swimmers stepped up and raced incredibly hard for their teammates.

After the November round we had made the A final of Division 2 which was held in Kendal on Saturday. We were competing against Burnley Boncats, Fleetwood & District, Copeland, Kendal and Ramsbottom.

A huge thank you to Helen Inns and Steve Donaldson for giving up their time to represent ASC as our nominated judge and scoring official, and to Michael Gillespie for Team Managing, Marshalling and helping me out on the coach with a full team of swimmers. He even brought the sick bucket (just in case!) Thanks to Iona, Emma and Archer’s dads and Adam’s grandma for being our cheerleading squad.

The swimmers were ready and they fought hard for every race against a strong team from Ramsbottom, our rivals from the last round.

We saw PB after PB in the individual races and a host of 1st and 2nd places. We led the gala for 75% of the programme, just losing out to Ramsbottom in the last stages.

A huge well done to the whole team, we were so proud of all of the swims. Here’s a special mention to those who managed to grab a 1st place:

Olivia H Open 200 IM
Mixed Open medley relay
Adam C 13 under 100 breast
Ashley D  open 100 fly
Frankie B  11 under 50 fly
Oscar LR 11 Inder 50 fly
James P Open 100 back
Danny W 11 under 50 breast
Michael G 13 under 100 fly
Olivia H open 100 breast
Frankie B 11 under 50 free
Michael W13 under 100 free
Ashley D open 100 free
Mixed open free relay

We may also have bagged ourselves a promotion for next year which will be an exciting challenge. We have a year to train for it!

Here’s to many more team galas! Well done everyone.

Kate and Dan

Hannah B
Well done to Hannah B in Competition who is our Swimmer of the Month for November 2021.
It’s been a pleasure to watch Hannah develop as a swimmer over the last year.
Hannah shows grit and determination in training and pursues every set she is given with the same enthusiasm and hard work.
She loves a challenge and she embodies everything about #girlpower that I love!
Well done Hannah, keep up the brilliant work.
I’d also like to say a big well done to Sam M in Transition, Katy E in Transition and Jessica S in Development 2 who were all nominated by their Coaches for their positive contribution to squad life.  Well done team, keep up the good work.
Ashley and James at Sheffield 2021
Swim England Winter Nationals - December 2021
Ashley & James have every reason to smile after putting in a massive effort at the Swim England Winter Nationals.
With 12 swims across 3 days between them, and nearly every swim a PB, this is testimony to the hard work & dedication both have shown consistently over a number of years.
Inspiring swimming both of you, here’s to a successful year ahead.
Thanks for being the role models you are to our Club.
ASC Winter Meet - Session 2 - December 2021 Well done to everyone to took part in the second session of the ASC Winter meet, lots of great swims with special congratulations to Harvey B who set a new Club Record in the 50m Breaststroke for his age group.
Snowfrills Snowfrills At Sheffield - November 2021

Another great event for ASC!

Day 1 saw Michael G smashed out PBs in 5/5 events which is no mean feat with back to back swimming.  Michael W battled through the snow to get there in time for an awesome 50m Freestyle PB, with Vincent, Lachie, Abbie & Max swimming great PB times plus a Gold for Max.  We saw more PBs in the 50m Backstroke with both Max and Lachie taking Silver medals.

Day 2 and we had another clean sweep of PBs, with Michael G swimming 8 PBs out of 8 swims and Michael W hitting the PBs hard too.  Vincent put in some great swims, pushing Tom’s underwater skill training to the limit with a brave 200m IM.  Lachie had a clean sweep of PBs too with a Silver in 100m Backstroke, and Max also had some fast swims plus a Gold in the 100m Backstroke.

You have all done yourselves and the Club proud, what a great team!

ASC Winter Meet - Session 1 - November 2021 Well done to everyone to took part in the first session of the ASC Winter meet, lots of great swims with special congratulations to Max O, Harvey B and James P who all set new Club Records in the 100m Breaststroke for their respective age groups.
Arena League, Round 1 - November 2021
Awesome work from our Arena team at Leigh last night! This was the first time racing outside of the Club for a lot of our swimmers and they absolutely smashed it!
A slightly different format with mixed relays made for some exciting races too.
Plenty of 1st and 2nd placings and no DQs, plus a great team spirit as always.
We missed out on the win by 1 point 158-157! Congrats to Ramsbottom for the win, we will be ready next time

Swim England North West Winter Regional Championships - November 2021 Great racing this weekend from Ashley and James at the North West Winter Regionals with two silver and two bronze for Ashley and a silver for James.  Their rivalry has always been great to see but a joint silver in the 50 Free just about sums it up!  Exciting racing, and it’s great to see the PBs and medals coming in. Well done!

Lachie has really stepped up his swimming and his mindset recently, and has shown a brilliant attitude to both skills based sessions and the hard graft. He's inspiring the younger swimmers using his Young Volunteers Award assisting on a Saturday evening and we can't wait to see what times he can pull out when he starts racing! Well done Lachie.
