May Swimmer of the Month
May was another great month of swimming with our National Qualifiers confirmed and our younger swimmers continuing to work very hard on their skills. We had some great nominations this month, with all the coaches highly praising the nominees. All of our nominees embody the Swimmer ABCβs and their hard work is paying off.
Well done to our 3 runners up who are:
Tom A - Development 1: Tom has been making great progress and is growing in confidence every session and in Pointscore. He has also been coming along to the open water meet ups and is taking to open water like a pro!
Jessica S - Transition: Jessica is technically very good and really works hard to improve her swimming skills. She turns up to every training session embraces the harder sessions with an iron will and lots of enthusiasm. Sheβs made lots of friends in her squad and is always the first to make new members feel welcome. Sheβs started to challenge herself by entering external galas and swam brilliantly for ASC at the Trafford Borough Development League gala.
There can however be only one Swimmer of the Month!
Holly L - Development 2 was voted by the Coaches because of her fantastic attitude and the way she has really taken a step up in training. All the Coaches who have had involvement with her commented on her improvement, dedication and effort level and noted her attitude and performance at the May point score. Really well done Holly, you have embodied our Swimmer ABCs and impressed all the Coaches! Great job!

National Summer Meet Qualifiers - a massive well done to James P (50 Back, 50 Free, 100 Back) and Ashley D (100 Free, 100 Back) who qualified for British Nationals, which start on 23 July.
Lachie B (200 IM) and Michael W (200 Free) have both qualified for their first English Nationals with their racing starting on 6 August.
We are so proud of the swimmers! The qualifying period is stressful, with swimmers dropping on and off the qualifying list each week. Our boys held on tight and kept racing hard!
These results do not come without years of consistent attendance, hard work and learning to compete, plus a lot of support from home with parents and carers investing much time in early morning and late night training and hours on poolside at galas.
The dedication does pay off and we are so proud of you all. From James and Ash balancing A levels to Lachie and Michael as the new generation, you are role models for our club

We have a number of nominations for Swimmer of the Month in March. Any swimmer in the club is eligible to be nominated by the Coaches. We are looking for attitude, team work, resilience, consistency and hard work primarily. Sometimes it may be a particular performance that stands out, but more often the Swimmer of the Month will have role modelled the behaviours we value in our Altrincham SC swimmers. Nominations : Betsy A (Performance) - for asking for help when she was finding training hard to balance and really committing to improving her swimming. She was rewarded with PBs at Richmond Dales in Leeds and we are so delighted to see her blossoming and enjoying swimming so much. Donovan E (Competition - Performance) for consistent hard work, and working well as a team in training. Donovan has proved himself to be a great training partner and really swam out of his comfort zone to some massive PBs at the Richmond Dales meet in Leeds. Lachie B (Performance)- for a series of high quality swims across all strokes and distances at his first North West Regionals bringing home a selection of medals and finallist places in a tough age group. The Winner of March Swimmer of the Month : Sam M (Transition - Competition) Sam set himself a number of goals at the start of the year and has worked methodically to achieve these goals. He's been promoted from Transition to Competition for his hard work and he swam some enormous PBs at Richmond Dales in Leeds. He's worked extremely hard on his technique and skills, and the results are really starting to show. Well done Sam! |
